Jim Corbett National Park
Jim Corbett National Park, the second largest Tiger reserve in India after Sunderbans, has become a top choice among tourists for its abundant flora and fauna. Formerly known as Hailey National Park, it was established in 1936 and covers an extensive area of over 500 sq. kms. This diverse landscape includes rivers, hills, marshes, a large lake, and grasslands. The park also allows visitors to have a unique experience by permitting night stays and wildlife safaris on either an Elephant back or an open jeep. Along with tigers, one can also spot leopards, wild elephants and crocodiles here. It is a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts and has even served as a filming location for several movies. Located in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand, the closest cities to the national park are Ramnagar and Kotdwar. The temperature in this region remains mild throughout the year with winters reaching lows of 4-5 degrees and summers averaging around 30 degrees. The mornings at Jim Corbett are often foggy, adding to the mystique of this renowned national park.
